Senior and Parents College Guidance Night

Posted Date: 09/18/26 (09:05 AM)

Thank you to all of the students and families who were able to join us last night to discuss post-secondary planning. We are hopeful that the presentation was a reinforcer for each of you regarding the college application process. The presentation and supporting documents are all on our website as well. Links below within our website include the vast array of post-secondary programs that exist, including colleges with special needs supports for matriculated programs, college experiences and transition to work programs, and trade/ vocational schools. Students with IEPs and 504 plans will continue to work with their School Counselor regarding planning for post-secondary needs. There are approximately 5,800 postsecondary institutions in the United States, including about 4,000 college/universities and around 1,800 vocational/technical programs. Garden City High School students attend over 100 post-secondary institutions annually. Our School Counselors are here to help find the right fit for you.

If you were not able to attend, please have your senior student come to Guidance to pick up the green folder. There is a copy of their transcript in it, which needs to be officially approved with signed consent to release information for the college application process. We encourage students to continue to attend individual College Rep visits and the College Fair on October 7th. Dates can be found on our website, in the Daily Bulletin, and outside the Counseling Center office. For those interested, attached is the form to order a Class of 2027 sign as well. Thank you in advance.
